Learning Support

Academic

Children learn at different rates and have individual needs.

That’s why we aim to enrich and extend the learning of all pupils in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and the Equality Act (2010).

The Learning Support Department works closely with teachers, heads of year, house staff and tutors. This collective approach ensures that any pupil identified as having difficulty accessing the school curriculum is supported to reach their full potential – primarily through inclusive teaching and small group support.

For the small number of girls who may need higher levels of intervention, we also coordinate a collaborative approach, including utilising the latest assistive technology where relevant.

In addition, we have a qualified specialist assessor who can assess students for access arrangements (following consultation and evidence provided by teaching staff) who works with outside specialists in dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism and ADHD support to ensure that the needs of every SEN student are met.
