Top A Levels for Roedean students - congratulations!

Congratulations to all Roedean A Level students on their outstanding results – well done!  We are delighted that 22.4% of all A Level grades have been awarded A*, our second best results in over a decade, and that 54.8% were at A*-A, showing a second year of improvement in the number of top grades.

Roedean's Honorary Chaplain, Rose Hudson-Wilkin, appointed as the C of E's first black female bishop

Roedean is thrilled that our Honorary Chaplain, Rose Hudson-Wilkin, (also chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons, and chaplain to the Queen) has just been appointed as the Church of England's first black female bishop.

Best Innovation at TeenTech2019 for Mary, Chloe, and Freya

Congratulations to Mary, Chloe, and Freya (Yr13) who have won the ‘Best Innovation - Model, Prototype, or Product’ category at the 2019 TeenTech Awards, presented at a glitzy awards’ ceremony at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in London.

Fawn's painting is accepted by the Royal Academy!

The Art Department is delighted to announce another incredible achievement by an A Level Art student. Fawn C (Yr12) has had her painting 'Untitled' selected by the Royal Academy for the 2019 Young Artists’ Summer Show. Selected from over 6000 entries, Fawn’s painting is one of just over displayed 300 online and in the gallery at Burlington House in Piccadilly, London.

Roedean girls love STEM subjects: as featured in the Sunday Times

Last weekend four of our Sixth Formers, Bells, Cherry, Alicia and Maggie, were featured in the Sunday Times having submitted an impassioned letter arguing in defence of girls in Physics, following the views of Italian Professor Alessandro Strumia that “women don’t like physics.”  The Sixth Formers also invited the recently sacked Professor to visit us here at Roedean, to see for himself the enthusiasm Roedean girls have for STEM subjects.

A New Library for St Mark’s for World Book Day!

The children at St Mark’s Primary have just started a new chapter in their reading lives. The culmination of weeks of planning, building, and landscaping, and months of fund-raising and book-donating, is the fantastic ‘Secret Garden Library’ at St Mark’s. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Chinese New Year with a bang and a flash!

It was wonderful to celebrate Chinese New Year at Roedean on Tuesday. The School was treated to some wonderful traditional music from our Chinese band, lovely red paper-cut decorations in the Houses and the Fireplace, delicious Chinese food, and there were also amazing fireworks in front of School.

Academic enrichment for students from 3 local schools and Roedean: the Roedean Academy launched for 2018-2019 this week. Nearly 50 students from Roedean, Blatchington Mill School, Longhill High School, and Peacehaven Community School, came to Roedean on Tuesday to find out how the Academy will work, and to select the modules they will take.
