This week we were treated to a fantastic performance from each house in the House Dance Competition. Well done to House 3, who were the overall winners.

On Monday, the whole of Year 9 took part in the Funky Lunch Enterprise Challenge. This was an opportunity for the students to work in groups on a variety of challenges, based around designing a new sandwich that would encourage young children to eat new foods.
It was wonderful to celebrate Chinese New Year at Roedean on Tuesday. The School was treated to some wonderful traditional music from our Chinese band, lovely red paper-cut decorations in the Houses and the Fireplace, delicious Chinese food, and there were also amazing fireworks in front of School.
Dawn T (Yr8) and Mrs Wu were honoured to visit 10 Downing Street and the Prime Minister on Thursday 31st January.
Alex is selected by UK Longtrack to represent Great Britain at two major European championships this year.
Roedean is incredibly proud of the recent dance achievements of India and Amelie H in Year 7 and 10 – both competed at the Essex Street Dance Championships on 27 January, and India won two Top 5 trophies in Under 14 Advanced Solos and Duos.
We are incredibly proud that the girls’ GCSE results last academic year place Roedean as the highest performing school in the area in one category of the recently published Department for Education comparison tables.
Four Year 13 girls have received the wonderful news that they have been offered conditional places to study at Cambridge University. This is an exceptional achievement, and everyone at Roedean is very proud of them.

It has been wonderful to welcome Roedean’s Olympic Gold Medal winning Sports Ambassadors, Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh, to the School this week. Kate and Helen also worked with pupils from St Mark’s Primary in Whitehawk.
On November 20th, the Year 8 cast presented their performance of ‘The Comedy of Errors’ as part of the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival at the Old Market Theatre in Brighton.
Yesterday, early applicants for Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and for Medicine and Veterinary Medicine courses, from Roedean and Lancing College came together for our annual interview exchange and dinner.
