The Frillensee Cup, where Alex competed on Saturday, was her first long track competition of the season. In the 1000m, she achieved a new Personal Best time of 1:37.65, more than 4.5 seconds faster than her previous PB, placing her at number 12 in the world ranking for this distance in the U14 category.

The Art Department is delighted to announce another incredible achievement by an A Level Art student. Fawn C (Yr12) has had her painting 'Untitled' selected by the Royal Academy for the 2019 Young Artists’ Summer Show. Selected from over 6000 entries, Fawn’s painting is one of just over displayed 300 online and in the gallery at Burlington House in Piccadilly, London.

A Roedean education is genuinely holistic. We pride ourselves on the wide variety of opportunities afforded to the girls to broaden their education experience. One of these is sign language and we are delighted that this featured in the recent edition of School Report.
This is the 16th year that Roedean has held a large-scale concert as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe, and we are delighted to be part of the largest Arts Festival in England, to which 400,000 visitors come each year.

Hot on the heels of her amazing success at the British Long Track championships in The Hague, Alex won all of her races at the recent British Short Track Championships in Sheffield, and therefore became the 2019 U14 Ladies’ British Champion and Gold Medallist!

Last weekend four of our Sixth Formers, Bells, Cherry, Alicia and Maggie, were featured in the Sunday Times having submitted an impassioned letter arguing in defence of girls in Physics, following the views of Italian Professor Alessandro Strumia that “women don’t like physics.” The Sixth Formers also invited the recently sacked Professor to visit us here at Roedean, to see for himself the enthusiasm Roedean girls have for STEM subjects.
