Welcome to the Performing Arts department at Roedean School, a vibrant, exciting, progressive department, incorporating singing, acting, dance and musical theatre. We are lucky to be home to a fantastic theatre here at Roedean, in which students have the opportunity to nurture and hone their performance skills in a professional environment. We offer private, shared and group lessons in music, dance and drama, as well as clubs, scholarship programmes, productions, public performances and our very own Performing Arts School, Artemis.
There are many opportunities at Roedean for those whose passion is Performing Arts. We have multiple productions taking place throughout the year, including both musicals and plays, as well as recitals, performances at public and school events, performing arts examinations and much more.
In the last 3 years alone we have staged productions of Hairspray, Peter Pan, The Crucible, Cabaret, Alice In Wonderland and Oliver!. Added to this we have had Scholars’ plays, our annual Dance Showcase, our annual Performing Arts Gala, West End workshops, professional masterclasses, LAMDA examinations in Acting, Verse & Prose, Public Speaking and Musical Theatre, in which we have a 100% Distinction rate, and Artemis showcases.
Artemis, our Performing Arts School, launched in 2019 and has been a huge success. A weekly three-hour programme of singing, dance and acting, Artemis is designed to further develop the skills of students who show a particular passion for Performing Arts. In these classes we aim to challenge the students, while building their confidence and encouraging them to become triple-threat performers.
We are delighted now to be launching a brand new prestigious scholarship here at Roedean for Performing Arts. We are looking for exciting and talented candidates who want to further their skills across the three disciplines and show leadership potential.
