Roedean was originally founded to prepare girls for the newly opened Girton and Newnham Colleges at Cambridge.
Today the clear academic target in the Sixth Form is for each student to obtain the highest possible results in her A Level subjects and secure the best possible place at university. In 2008 a proud, confident and excited group of girls left Roedean having received the best A Level results in Sussex.
Whilst the majority at Roedean study four AS and three A2 courses, each girl's academic programme must be suited to her individual abilities and interests. Her progress is monitored regularly and her personal tutor is on hand to give advice and guidance when necessary.
This academic load enables our girls to balance their subjects at A Level with their extra curricular activities, as well as have time to relax and enjoy Brighton.
Students who excel are given an opportunity to sit further Advanced Extension Awards; as usual, each girl is advised on what is best for them personally.
Thanks to an established partnership with the University of Sussex, we are also pleased to invite strong maths students to take a term of maths classes with first year students at Sussex.
