Careers and university planning

“I will embark on a much-anticipated gap year which will be spent working in London and studying French at the Sorbonne. The guidance and skills which Roedean has given me is a strong foundation from which I can launch myself.”

One of Roedean’s priorities is to ensure we prepare our students for successful careers; our girls should be equipped to search out and make the most of the right opportunity, whether in London, Lagos or Los Angeles.

With this in mind, careers education starts in Year 9 and continues all the way through to the Sixth Form. First ideas start in careers and PHSE classes and evolve through private study and reflection in the cosy careers library.

  • Inspirational speakers from the commercial world, university tutors and Old Roedeanians advise and encourage.
  • Students attend career-related courses, a higher education convention and a range of university open days, both in the term and in holidays.
  • Sixth Form students (and also those in Years 10 and 11) will do a week of work experience and have individual interviews and personalised careers guidance.
