Roedean Day and Boarding School Scholarships

Entrance Tests

Unlike many schools, Roedean is not fixed to rigid admission test dates. We recognise that these may not suit your other commitments, especially if you are living abroad, so we try to be as flexible as possible with a rolling testing schedule.

Having said that, advance planning usually helps potential students feel more settled and allows them to concentrate on happily ending their prep, primary or secondary school.

We would therefore encourage:

  • concluding the school visits/research stage at least 12 months before proposed entry.
  • concluding the application/testing stage at least 6 months before proposed entry.

The test

If, like the majority of Roedean applicants, you are taking the internal Roedean test, there are three papers – Maths (or Liberal Arts for sixth formers taking humanities and arts A levels), English and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Tests are usually marked, and an admissions decision made, within one working week.

Alternatively, for applicants coming from prep schools, we can accept the Common Entrance.

UK applicants

Testing takes place at Roedean. Please call 01273 667626 to arrange an appointment.

International applicants

Tests can either be taken at your current school or the local British Council office. In addition to Maths or Liberal Arts and English, you may also be asked to take a Non-Verbal Reasoning paper.
