The Common Entrance examination is used to assess applicants transferring to senior schools at the ages of 11+ (joining Year 7) and 13+ (joining Year 9). The Independent Schools Examination Board (ISEB) sets the Common Entrance.
Usually, you prepare and take the Common Entrance in your own school. The papers are then sent to Roedean for marking; it usually takes approximately three weeks to obtain the result.
The 11+ examination is taken in the spring term. There are three papers: English, Maths and Science.
The 13+ examination can be taken in either the spring or the summer term. As well as English, Maths and Science, you would typically offer some or all of French, Geography, German, Greek, History, Latin, Religious Studies and Spanish.
