Our goal is to foster contact among all Old Roedeanians within the U.S. and to be the link between them and Roedean.
The ORA is active in the U.S. We currently have listed well over 200 women throughout the country and are anxious to add to these. Every summer, Cherry Edgerton-Bird sends a letter to everyone requesting news and the replies are compiled into a newsletter. We have a directory just for the U.S. and have sent it to everyone on our mailing list.
Susan Ryan organises annual reunions in New York or Connecticut and also arranges mini-reunions whenever anyone shows an interest in getting together with those in a specific area. This has led to some fascinating new friendships and an invigorating renewal of old ones.
The reunions are usually held in our homes over an informal meal, and are full of anecdotes, photographs, mementoes and laughter. Some who have not had contact with anyone since leaving Roedean have attended the reunions and have been happy to share memories and regain their link to the past.
Please help us achieve our goal by contacting us if you live in the U.S., intend to live here, or know an OR who does. If you are visiting the U.S., we would be happy to put you in touch with ORs in the area.
