The hills are alive with…. Roedean’s production of ‘The Sound of Music’

“Maria, these walls were not meant to shut out problems. You have to live the life you were born to live” is just one of the well-known, much loved phrases currently resonating within the Roedean theatre. This, of course, can only mean one thing: The Sound of Music is about to bring our fabulous campus alive!

Our school plays are a highlight on everyone’s calendar; from pupils, to teachers to parents; with this year’s production already a sellout. We will be particularly pleased to have several distinguished Prep School Heads, who have accepted an personal invitation from their former pupils, in the audience.

This is the first time ‘The Sound of Music’ has been put on at the School, which means dozens of talented actresses desperately wanted a leading part. In the end, Jodie Gough won the role of the exuberant Maria, with Gaby Tomlinson opposite her as Captain Georg von Trapp. Girls from all other years will be on stage or working behind the scenes.

We will also be collecting for local charity St Dunstans on Thursday night and Cecily’s Fund on Friday and Saturday night, so please bring any spare change with you.

Never before have we seen so many nuns on the loose; we hope you can join us to see them!

Fabulous. I came to the theatre tired after a day of headmastering and left feeling uplifted! A brilliant performance from all involved. My sincere congratulations to you all!
