Reflections on my first term

After an action-packed first term at Roedean, our student blogger is relaxing at home...

My first term at Roedean was very busy and action-packed. With all the extra-curricular activities on offer - sport, Team Plays, and ‘Roedean’s Got Talent’ - the school was buzzing with the excitement of it all.

Team Plays really start the year off. The four different teams in the School (I am in Team Four) each perform a short play before an independent panel decide on the winner. This year, the theme was Shakespeare. I was anxious to make the most of everything, so I auditioned for a part in our production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and I was thrilled to receive the part of Hermia. Team Four were very welcoming, and I am really glad I took part - even if we didn’t win. Each team put on a spectacular performance and the team spirit was lovely, with me feeling as if I was already part of another family.

Another exciting event causing quite a lot of talk among the pupils was ‘Roedean’s Got Talent’. Girls were auditioning, and practising non- stop, for their place in the final show, where Piers Morgan would be judging their performance. On the night, the school managed to raise a huge amount of money (over £3000) and host a wonderful show. Congratulations to Jess Roper who was the eventual winner!

All this was a very good start to my time at Roedean, I think. I’m feeling as if I’ve been here for years already; the atmosphere at Roedean is like no other school I’ve attended. The happiness that emanates off every girl is a very good thing to be surrounded by each day when I arrive. I’m very much looking forward to going back after Christmas.
