Sale of Roedean Junior School
Roedean's stunning 45 acre campus

Sale of land of Roedean Junior School

Roedean School is pleased to announce the sale of the land of Roedean Junior School to Brighton College which will benefit both of these successful independent schools.

After the closure of Roedean’s Junior School at the end of the summer term 2011, the site and building will now become the property of Brighton College.

Following a strategic review, Roedean will focus on the provision of a world class education for girls aged 11-18 at its 45 acre coastal campus. It accordingly offered the land of the junior school for sale in the open market.

The sale of this site will enable Roedean to provide approximately 30 life-changing bursaries for girls in the Sussex area and beyond. The school will also further enhance the boarding, academic, sporting and performance facilities available within its stunning grounds. This will ensure that Roedean sets a new standard in pupil experience and thereby cements its reputation as one of the world’s most prominent girls’ schools.

Brighton College will use the site to relocate its popular Nursery and Pre-prep School from the main college site, only 500 metres away. The Brighton College Nursery and Pre-Prep School will inherit a state-of-the-art junior school building and an associated playground and playing field, providing the children with the best nursery and pre-prep facilities in Brighton and Hove.

Both schools are delighted that, through this land sale, the provision of outstanding education will continue in East Brighton.
