Roedean’s String Orchestra took part in the Mayor of Brighton and Hove’s annual fundraising concert in the opulent surroundings of the Music Room in the Pavilion last week. The Orchestra played alongside other leading musical groups from the city, including the Brighton Chamber Choir.
“Despite the sense of history and the stunning decoration, there was no sign of nerves. The girls played superbly and were a great credit to the school”, said Miss Fewkes, Head of Music.
George IV’s own band entertained guests with Handel or Italian opera in the Music Room and the Italian composer Rossini performed here in 1823.
