Roedean School is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Rothon as the Chairman of the Council of Trustees from September 2011.
Mr Rothon takes over from Christopher Jonas CBE FRICS. Mr Jonas has achieved an enormous amount for Roedean over the last seven years and his dedication and commitment leaves Roedean in a very strong position for the future.
Mr Rothon has had a distinguished career spanning four decades with Unilever in marketing management, strategy formulation and operations in Europe, USA and Latin America.
His daughters both attended Roedean in the 1990s and their experience confirmed to him the importance of an excellent education in preparation for the 21st century. He looks forward to supporting the strategic development of Roedean over the coming years.
The new Chairman said, 'It is an honour to have been chosen to succeed Christopher Jonas as Chairman of Roedean’s Council. I will have some "big shoes to fill" and the Council and staff of Roedean may count on my full commitment to affect a seamless transition, thus ensuring the successful future of this illustrious institution.
'I look forward very much to taking up my new role and to listening carefully to the views of the school staff and management, parents, Governors, Council Trustees and local stakeholders.'
Mrs King, Headmistress, highlighted the appropriateness of this appointment by saying, 'Mr Rothon’s significant experience in the commercial world will assist Roedean to move forward in its aim to provide a top quality educational experience for tomorrow’s global citizens.'
