Morgan Taylor elected as Media Representative for UK Youth Parliament

Member of Youth Parliament, Morgan Taylor has been elected as one of the only two Media Representatives for the UK Youth Parliament, (UKYP), South East region.

15 candidates from across the region stood for this prestigious role. Morgan’s speech was eloquent whilst also memorable; she spoke of the importance of media rather than expressing why she would be the best candidate. A risky strategy that seemed to pay off!

This is the first time that a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) from Brighton and Hove has been elected to an additional role within UKYP. Her role as media representative will be to be a point of call for fellow MYPs who require media assistance. Her role in promoting the House of Commons event in November will also be of much importance regionally.

On Friday, 4 November 2011, MYPS from across the UKYP will come together to debate topical issues within the House of Commons Chamber – an experience which all MYPs regard as a once in a life time opportunity, but more importantly, an opportunity which really allows them to highlight issues for young people and ensure decision makers listen.

The House of Commons debate is streamed live by BBC Parliament.
