Midsomer comes to Junior School in Mid-winter

Jason Hughes, who plays DS Ben Jones is the popular Midsomer Murders TV series, spent the morning with Transition and Upper Prep 5 yesterday as part of their English lesson. The topic was reading with expression.

First, Mr Hughes guided the children through their group reading books in order to encourage them to think about how each different character could be portrayed when reading aloud.

He also talked about how he sets about the task of reading scripts and the work that goes into reading for audio books.

To end with, Mr Hughes worked with many of the girls hoping for speaking roles in the Junior School play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Confidence blossomed, as all the possible Titanias (pictured above) worked alongside Mr Hughes, who had kindly taken on the role of Oberon.
