On 7, 8 and 9 November, 3,000 young musicians from across the UK realised their dream and performed in one of the world’s most iconic venues in the Music for Youth Schools Prom concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
The three inspirational concerts showcased an eclectic mix of musical styles and highlighted the excellent music education work taking place across the country.
Amongst the nation’s most exciting young musicians was Roedean’s own Lower Sixth Form pupil and violinist, Jamie-Lee Glinsman who gave a compelling performance with the Brighton Youth Orchestra (BYO). Jamie-Lee plays in the first violin section of the BYO which she had only joined at the beginning of this term. She said, “Performing at the Royal Albert Hall was a mind-blowing experience and it was amazing to be amongst so many young people who are just as passionate about music as I am.”
Jamie-Lee will begin her Grade 8 violin next year, she plays Grade 7 viola and has also taught herself to play the piano and guitar.
