Girls attend entrepreneurship lecture at Lancing College

23/01/2011

Roedean U5 and 61 girls went to Lancing College to hear Rob Hazell, founder of ShakeAways, give an excellent lecture on how to run and manage a successful business last week [writes Sarah Russo]. Rob was passionate about ShakeAway and told us all we needed to know about the business, and its rival ShakeAbout.

ShakeAway is a chain of milkshake bars in the UK, Australia and the Middle East. Their menu includes 150 creative and unique milkshake flavours. ShakeAway is not only a milkshake bar, but a creative and exciting brand, always finding new things for its customers to get in to and enjoy.

Rob also spoke about the catastrophe of the Dime bar incident, where one of his franchisees was putting only one Dime bar in the Dime bar milkshakes instead of the needed and perfect one and a half!

The lecture was extremely useful for our business knowledge and it was interesting to find out how our own ShakeAway came to Brighton. Rob ended by informing us of his future plans for ShakeAway, involving ShakeAway Cafes (very much like Starbucks, but for a younger generation). He also told us the complexities of expanding abroad and how ShakeAway failed in Cyprus, but was a success in Australia and Dubai.
