Extraordinary Roedean (SA) Matric results

Our sister school, Roedean South Africa, has started 2011 by achieving a set of quite exceptional exam results. In total 80 girls received 268 distinctions; there was a 100% Matriculation pass rate and a 98% Matriculation Endorsement (university entrance) pass.
Incredibly, Nicola Mitchell was in the top 1% nationally in seven of her Matric subjects! Nicola was Roedean’s Dux for 2010 and remarkably successful in cultural and sporting activities as well.
In response to these triumphs, Mrs Mary Williams, Executive Headmistress, said, “Congratulations to you all. You have excelled and your superb results are well deserved. They are a testimony to your diligence and willingness to learn.”
Outstanding Achievement
Three Roedean girls were placed in the IEB’s (Independent Education Board) Outstanding Achievement category, which includes all those who achieved a ranking within the top 5% nationally in six or more of their Matric subjects. These outstanding students are:
- Nicola Mitchell
- Philippa Raal
- Christina Wu
Commendable Achievement
Three Roedean girls were placed in the IEB’s Commendable Achievement Category, which includes all students who achieved a ranking within the top 5% nationally of five of their Matric subjects. These commendable students are:
- Helen Byrne
- Katherine Donald
- Seo Hee Lee
Seo Hee achieved an astounding 100% for Mathematics and Advanced Programme Mathematics and 99% for Pure Mathematics.
