Busy Summer Maintenance Schedule at Roedean

Many people tend to think of the summer holidays as being a quiet and restful period at a school.  Not so at Roedean; this is a great opportunity for carrying out maintenance and updates to the School and its grounds.

The work that is being carried out ready for the arrival of the girls and academic staff at the start of the Autumn term includes:

New server counters installed in both dining halls as well as the parquet flooring being sanded down and re-coated.

Decoration works, new timber clad ceilings and the repair of pew benches in the Chapel.

Replacement of all structural steels to the south elevation of House 1 ensuring the continued structural stability for the next 125 years.

Sand blasting and re-spraying of all the original radiators in the Library. Some difficulty was experience getting them offsite for refurbishment, as each weighs in excess of 375kg...

Three Humanities classrooms have been re-decorated, including new lighting, carpets, blinds and furniture.

New seating for spectators and lane guides for the swimming pool.

Restoration and repair of the main front entrance stone surround.

Continuation of the lime washing. Keswick is now complete and the main building is undergoing its planned maintenance.

The Garden of Serenity is a new area created by our own grounds team led by Ali Polowski to complement the cloisters area.
