Alex Scarrow on Campus

On 21 June, the award-winning author of the TimeRiders series, Alex Scarrow, visited Roedean to give talks to the younger members of the school.
In two entertaining one-hour workshops to the Upper Threes and Lower Fours, he introduced techniques for generating original creative ideas where the girls had to complete the sentence ‘What If....’ and also think of an alternative setting /storyline for the Harry Potter series in his 'Steal and Twist' scenario.
The winning What Ifs brainstormed by the Lower Fours and Upper Threes were 'What if the world was inside a Lego set' and 'What if love was a malevolent force'.
Later in the theatre, he gave an energetic and humorous presentation on his TimeRiders books, reading from the first two chapters of the first book in the series and discussing what the world might be like today, had someone advised Hitler not to invade Russia....
After the talk, enthusiastic girls queued in the library to get their TimeRider books signed by Alex and to ask him some last-minute questions about his books and writing.
