2011 House Plays

The 2011 House Plays Festival on 14 October, delivered four fantastic, original and high quality plays – all within a gruelling schedule of just 6 weeks of incredibly hard work from all concerned. The girls wrote, directed, staged, rehearsed, performed and promoted their plays themselves, with guidance from Mrs Armes and technical support from Ben Losh and Philip Clancy. The results were described as ‘truly outstanding’ by judge Ros Adler – a former Roedean pupil and current TV and West End actress.

House 1’s play ‘14th October’ told an unhappy tale of coincidences and misunderstanding, and a love unfulfilled. House 2 gave a dramatic portrayal of the devastating psychological effects of war on a soldier and his family with ‘Heatwave’.  ‘Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter & Spring’ by House 3 explored the circle of life, as we followed the journey of Orphan, Elisa, through the key seasons of her life. Ultimate victory went to House 4, who won Best Play, with an outstanding performance from Julia Masli who was awarded Best Actress. ‘Frostbite’ was a fantastical and mythical fable about heroes, vampires and how love conquers all!
