There is no uniform in the Nursery at present, although this will change during 2010. Please dress your child in play clothes, avoiding dungarees and belts if possible - they are hard for little fingers to undo and we try to encourage independence in the lavatory.
Jelly shoes, open sandals and slip-on shoes are not permitted in the Nursery for safety reasons. Similarly jewellery is best left at home. Earrings must be studs only.
Please label with your child's name anything they are likely to remove e.g. cardigans, coats, hats, scarves, wellies, mittens (no "finger gloves" please, unless your child has mastered the skill of putting the correct finger in the right hole!) and aprons.
Please provide a coat each day, if only a cagoule in case of rain. Sun-hats are essential in summer, as is the application of sun-cream before School. Hats and mittens are essential for outdoor play in the winter.
Please provide an apron for your child. They experiment with paint, clay, dough, charcoal, glue, water, wet sand, food mixtures and many other media. Mrs Riggs keeps a stock of aprons from the uniform shop which are easy to put on. One of these would last your child through their time in the Nursery and through the Pre-Prep classes.
The uniform is supplied on-line from SchoolBlazer.com. They provide a wonderful service and all details can be found on their website. If you have any difficulties do not hesitate in contacting the school.
It is expected that all children should wear the correct uniform and appear smart and well groomed. All articles should be checked each holiday to ensure that they are in good repair and are clearly marked with the child’s name. There will be a uniform check at the beginning of each term and spot checks during the term.
All clothes must be named clearly. Please observe the ways in which to label your child’s clothes as it will help teachers and children to ensure that clothes are not lost. All PE kit, PE bags, swimming costumes, swimming towels, etc. should also be named clearly in the correct place, and with the present owner’s name.
Hair should be tidy and should be tied back if longer than shoulder length. Whatever the chosen style, the face should not be obscured. Hair bands or ribbons should be in the following colours: black, navy blue, cream or white.
Sports equipment and overalls should be in school at all times. If kit is taken home to be washed at the weekend it is essential to remember to return it the following Monday. Swimming costumes and towels should always be returned to school when rinsed or washed. (They may be needed on wet days when no outside games are possible).
No jewellery is allowed except for:
Would parents please ensure that school shoes do not have high heels. These are unsuitable for younger girls to run and play in on the playground and could cause a nasty injury. Shoes considered dangerous by staff for this reason are not acceptable in school.
