We welcome our international students because we believe two key Roedean characteristics - open-mindedness and individuality – come from a diverse student mix.
International students make up 45% of our community, with girls coming from over 30 countries.
We always prefer families to visit, if possible, in order to understand and appreciate the unique qualities of Roedean.
Girls can enter any year group, assuming there is availability.
You can apply directly to Roedean, or through an educational agent/consultant. This is usually about a year before entry.
You will then sit entrance exams in English, Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning. These exams are usually taken locally at an agent’s office, at your current school or at the British Council.
If you are successful in the entrance exams, we will invite you and your family to visit Roedean for a tour of the school and a meeting with the Headmaster. If a visit is difficult, we will make arrangements to Skype (but we prefer to meet applicants in person).
We would then make an offer (sometimes conditional), you would pay the deposit and we send you a link to the online joining instructions.
Studying in a UK independent school in another language can be tiring. We have an excellent English as an Additional Language (EAL) department to give tailored support to any girls who would like it. These lessons are given on a one to one basis, outside the main timetabled lessons.
As a result, we are confident that our international students can expect the same academic success as those girls who speak English as their first language.
