The 125th Anniversary Gala Ball took place on Saturday 2 April at the Hilton on Park Lane. The evening was a huge success with 550 guests - including 250 ORs, 26 current girls, 21 staff and 10 former staff. Pupils from every school year from 1937 through to present day were represented to share a celebration of 125 years of an amazing school.
Guests enjoyed a champagne reception and the chance to catch up with old friends – whilst souvenir photos were taken and caricatures drawn.
During a fabulous dinner in the glamorous Ballroom, guests were entertained by opera-singing waiters and then bid on a series of amazing auction items, including weekend use of a stately home for ten guests! The auction raised over £5,000 towards the ORA Scholarship Fund which has been providing invaluable financial support to talented pupils for over 80 years.
Unsuccessful auction bidders tried their luck on the Roulette and Blackjack tables after dinner, whilst more exuberant guests crowded the dance floor to enjoy the live band.
It was a night to remember, only made possible by the inspirational leadership of ORA President Sasha Glynn (No.1, 1980-87) and the charismatic Chair of the Ball Committee Annie Sheaf (Clowes, No.2, 1968-74).
