Voluntary Services Committee
The sixth form participate in voluntary work in Brighton, for example in:

There are free swimming pool lets for junior schools and lots of sponsored swim groups (Martletts, Lions, Rotary)
Drama
Two Year 11 boys from Longhill did a week of work experience with the Theatre Technicians
Music
There are bursaries for instrumental tuition for five pupils
Library
The Southern School Book Awards (SSBA) is attended by pupils and staff from 35 local secondary schools. The theatre and refreshments are offered for free. This event plays an important part in promoting reading to teenagers (Year 9s).
Old books, audio cassettes, and videos from the Roedean libraries are donated to the local Rotary Club and then onwards to charity projects.
In 2009 many old books were also donated to the Sean Devereux project, a project in memory of an African aid worker with the aim of setting up school libraries in Africa.
