Bursaries

Each year Roedean offers financial support to parents of students whose circumstances would otherwise put Roedean beyond their reach. Bursaries can be applied for alongside a scholarship application or as a standalone application.

All applicant families need to complete a means-tested bursary application in full. All bursary applications will be evaluated by an external company. Awards will also consider the student’s performance in the entrance tests. The continuation of a bursary is subject to an annual assessment and the student’s sustained performance and contribution in the school.

UK-Based families, whose daughters are joining Roedean in Years, 7, 9 and 12.

Application Process

All students who are eligible to apply for bursary funding will be able to access application forms in the Roedean Admissions Portal.

Brighthelm Awards for Years 7 & 12

Brighthelm Awards, which are a combination of both scholarship and means-tested funding, are available for girls joining in Years 7 and 12 who are currently in the state sector and living within a radius of 20 miles of the school. Brighthelm students are highly motivated and academically confident. They are aspirational students with a thirst for knowledge, who can demonstrate a positive and flexible approach to learning and an ability to integrate fully into a new academic environment.

Who should apply?
Year 7: Students must be in the top of the Year 6 ability range in English and Maths.
Year 12: Students must have GCSE predicted grades of all 7-9s across all their subjects.

Assessment
Years 7 and 9:
• Entrance tests (Maths, English, Verbal, and Non-Verbal Reasoning)
• Participate in an interview in which you will be expected to demonstrate your intellectual curiosity.
Year 12:
• Results of Entrance Testing as well as an Academic Scholarship paper
• Participate in an interview in which you will be expected to demonstrate your intellectual curiosity.

Families applying will also need to complete both a Scholarship Application as well as complete a Bursary Application Form
